The term law new denotes something that is new or of recent origin, as compared with a thing of the same kind. Usually, the term refers to a legislative act, but it can also be used to describe an amendment to an existing statute. When a committee votes to report a bill to the House, it prepares a written description of its purpose and scope, including the effect of the legislation on existing laws.
