The Law New is a website where you can find all of the laws and rules that govern the city of New York. It was developed by the Law Department with American Legal Publishing Corporation to make it easier for you to access and use our municipal law resources.
A bill is a proposal for a new law or a change to an existing one. It can originate from a member of Congress or a citizen group. It can be debated and amended in committee before it goes to the House or Senate for a final vote. When a bill is reported back to the House or Senate, it includes a committee report that gives an analysis of the purpose and scope of the bill and a section-by-section explanation of what each part does.
